Closing the yield gap through information.

In rural areas, access is the scarcest input. We bring reliable agronomic guidance to every farmer’s phone — by phone or WhatsApp.

Why Terratek Labs

Your farm assistant on your phone.

Data-based decisions

Guidance on seed, nutrients, irrigation, and pests, adapted to the crop, the area, and the moment in the season. Public content is not a personalized agronomic prescription.

A familiar voice, no friction

By phone or WhatsApp, with no new apps or accounts. The producer uses the device they already have. Access to the service requires a separate agreement and express authorization.

AI with agronomic guardrails

Knowledge curated and validated by the technical team. When the AI does not know, it says so. When a technician is needed, it says so.

Access at scale

Coverage for producer associations, agro-exporters, municipalities, and other organizations in the agricultural sector, so that distance or office hours are not the barrier.

Agriculture in numbers

The answers are there. The challenge is getting them through.

They are in scientific articles, in technical protocols, in extension workers’ notebooks, and in the experience of farmers who have lived through dozens of harvests. But much of that knowledge never reaches the people who need it most, at the moment and in the form that can actually change a decision.

Evidence from the field

We build where the major institutions left evidence.

The IDB, FAO, and leading organizations in the agricultural sector have already documented what works and what does not. For years, public institutions, researchers, and producer organizations have tested new ways to bring knowledge to the field. Three principles come out of that work: assistance must be able to scale, information must fit the local context, and trust turns a recommendation into action. Terratek Labs is built on that foundation.

Extension at scale Source: World Bank
In-person extension does not scale.

Farm-by-farm technical assistance is costly and slow. In most countries there is about one extension worker for every 1,000 to 2,000 producers; in some territories the gap is even wider. No extension worker can master at the same time every crop, soil, pest, climate, and market in the territory they cover.

Local context Sources: IFPRI · World Bank
A useful recommendation is always local.

An answer can be technically correct and still be useless — or even risky — if it does not consider the crop, the soil, the climate, the inputs available, the language, and the moment in the season. IFPRI and the World Bank agree that usefulness in the field also depends on relevance, ease of use, and trust.

Trust turns information into action.

A third-party study documented that, in an IDB project in Peru, 102 producers received WhatsApp recommendations co-designed with local technicians: 67% responded and 70% said they intended to apply them. Messages that were too technical or lacked a recognizable institution created confusion. The channel helped; human and institutional backing made the recommendation credible.
